The Beginning:On 2nd July 1997 the 54th batch of Dhaka Medical College set forth their journey in the realm of medical science. 151 young students found their identity in the small term "K54". It was just the beginning of a life-long carrier of healing. End of the First Year:K54 was always interested in sports and culture besides academic activities. To reflect this the batch organized a cultural program celebrating their first year in campus. Professional Examinations:On September 1999 K54 appeared in the first professional examination, about 4 months after the due date. But the students tried harder for the next exam and took the 2nd professional exam in due time in September 2001. The final exam was taken in January 2003 and the result was one of the best in years. Internship:Young doctors of K54 were well reputed for their sincerity, skill, knowledge and devotion to work. Of course internship was a hard job. Still they managed to arrange a SAARC tour successfully reflecting the bond they share among them. At the end of training K54 organized a cultural program which was always a part of their days in campus. Going Higher:K54 was the first batch where a good number of students took the first FCPS part I examination immediately after internship training and were successful. Within 6 months more students took the exam and struck gold. Results of MRCP and PLAB exams taken by K54 doctors were satisfactory too. Do You Want to Contribute? In a short time this was what I could come up with to narrate the history of K54. Surely you can do better than that. So why don't you write about K54 and send it to me? You can send it in any way you can; letters, email anything. For details, click here.
